Rainouts will be made up the next day if possible. Saturdays will be set aside to make up rainouts if necessary. Divisional Games will be made up first.
Home Team has the
official book and occupies the 1st base dugout. Scorers should verify the score between
innings and have the umpire sign the book in the event of protest. Each team must provide an adult or teen-age
child to operate the scoreboard and PA system during each game.
All games play 5
innings or 90 minutes, which ever comes first.
If after 4 complete innings a team is ahead by 10 runs
or more, the game is officially over, (3 ½ innings if the home team is ahead). Games
called due to rain shall be official if at least 4 innings are complete or, (3 ½ innings if the home team is ahead). Games
not complete will be suspended and continued later, if necessary.
The time limit of 90
minutes will be on the scoreboard clock.
If the scoreboard is inoperative, umpires will keep the time on the
field and notify each head coach of the starting time. No inning will begin once the time limit has
expired. The umpires have sole control
of the clock once the clock is put in motion.
Roster batting order
is to be used. Each player must also
participate in 3 outs on defense a game.
Violation of the participation rule can result in forfeit of the game.
Tie games count as ½
game lost and ½ game won. Games tied at
the end of 6 innings may continue into extra innings until one team wins or
time expires.
Nine defensive
players (4
outfielders beyond the infield dirt)
must be used on defense. Games may be
played with as few as (8) eight players to avoid forfeit. If this occurs, the 9th spot in
the batting order is an automatic out when due up at bat. Less than (8) eight players during the game
is a forfeit. (There is no
penalty for only having 9 players)
NO PARENTS are allowed on the playing field
during a game. The playing field is for
the coaches, Umpires, and Players.
Violators will be asked to leave the park.
INFIELD FLY RULE – The
infield fly rule will NOT BE
observed in this league.
Protests must be
handled according to the official rules in the DYB Rule Book.
Best overall record
at the end of the regular season will determine the league champion. In the event of a 1st place tie in
the standings, the following tie-breakers will be used until a champion is
determined:
1) Head to Head 2)
Total runs scored between both games.
3) Best Overall
record within own league. 4) A one
game play-off.
Questions concerning rules not covered by the official Dixie Youth Baseball Rule Book and/or these exceptions should be directed to your league Commissioner.
